The New Apple TV is here! [AppleTVBlogr Unboxing]
Some exciting news today! As you all know, the New Apple TV is being released for purchase today! thescragster was lucky enough to pick one up a few hours early. Below are a few images and video (uploading now) of the New Apple TV being unboxed.
The Apple TV was schedualled for release in New Zealand as part of the second slot in the international role out. The shipment arrived in NZ earlier than expected. With a friend working within a local store, we were able to pick one up early! Pictures below:

Hi guys,
Thinking about getting the new apple tv 1080p, but wanted to know if I’d be able to jailbreak from the box or would I have to wait? Unsure about them releasing new software for it.

Thanks for your question! Currently there is no jailbreak (tethered or untethered) available for the New Apple TV. There are lots of people within the jailbreak community working towards a jailbreak but nothing is available at this stage.

Thinking about maybe getting the 720p one, would I see much difference from the 1080p?
It really depends. It depends on the size of your TV screen, also the distance you sit from your TV when viewing. There is a really good diagram that will outline when 720p and 1080p become useful, take a quick look here: http://carltonbale.com/1080p-does-matter (Click on the first chart).
I don’t actually remember the price they have set the Apple TV 2G at (if you know, do post) but if it is similar, I would deff suggest the New ATV over the 2G.
The price is $129 for the Apple TV 2nd gen but i do know for a fact that Yoobee Albany has none in stock and i am unsure about other retailers. If you keep an eye out at those types of stores they may be selling their demo units at a reduced price but this is till to be confirmed.

Where did you get your information from? Doesn’t seem like there a very large price difference between the two devices. I guess with the New Apple TV still being a such a low price point, they can’t set it all that much lower.

From the inside of course haha. We are yet to find the price of the ex-demo units and when the units do become old there is not much of a price drop. The iPad 2′s are only 220 less than previous price

what are the advantages of having being able t to jailbreak the apple tv i have my iPhone jailbreaken and i think thats the best thing ever can post a link that will tell me the pro of it? thanks
As with jailbreaking the iPhone, jailbreaking the Apple TV allows you to do far more with the device. One of the major advantages (in my view, and for a lot of other people) is the ability to install additional applications such as XBMC. XBMC and other media center applications allow you to play all kinds of video formats as well as adding a lot more customization.
