How to Install Loudmouth – Apple TV Twitter Client [Tutorial]

Perviously we posted that Loudmouth, a Twitter client had been released. Below you will find the install instructions for how to install this one your Apple TV 2G.

Install

1. SSH into the AppleTV

Open Terminal (on your Mac) or a similar program from your PC and type the following:

ssh root@apple-tv.local

Terminal will then ask you for a password, enter the default Apple TV SSH password:

alpine

2. Install WGET

Type the following into Terminal and hit enter:

apt-get install wget

3. Download required files

Type the following into Terminal and hit enter:

wget http://dl.dropbox.com/u/11662595/twitter/org.tomcool.oauthconsumer_0.6.0-17_iphoneos-arm.deb

wget http://dl.dropbox.com/u/11662595/twitter/org.tomcool.mgengine_0.6.0-21_iphoneos-arm.deb

wget http://dl.dropbox.com/u/11662595/twitter/org.tomcool.atvloudmouth.frap_1.0.0-339_iphoneos-arm.deb

Would you like to use your Apple TV for more than just renting movies from iTunes? Of course you do, otherwise why would you be here? This is a great application that has been released that all of you social networking butterflies are going to love. (Install instructions can be found here).

A Twitter application for the Apple TV 2G has been released. The application was created by Thomas Cool, developer behind screenCapture, MainMenu Weather, and Overflow to name a few.
