Apple TV has 8GB Flash Storage and 512MB Ram [Teardown]

As we announced earlier, we got our hands on the new Apple TV earlier than expected and have loved all of it’s 1080p goodness. While we already knew there was a single-core A5 processor inside, a forum user from XBMC.org has done a teardown of the device to reveal its insides.

From the teardown, we find that the new Apple TV still has the same 8GB of flash storage like its second-generation brother, but has received a bump to 512MB of RAM…

You’d think Apple would have upgraded the storage beyond 8GB to handle larger 1080p video files, but Cupertino-based Apple chose to stay with Toshiba’s drive.…

The New Apple TV is here! [AppleTVBlogr Unboxing]

Some exciting news today! As you all know, the New Apple TV is being released for purchase today! thescragster was lucky enough to pick one up a few hours early. Below are a few images and video (uploading now) of the New Apple TV being unboxed.

The Apple TV was schedualled for release in New Zealand as part of the second slot in the international role out. The shipment arrived in NZ earlier than expected. With a friend working within a local store, we were able to pick one up early! Pictures below:

Untethered 4.4.4 AppleTV Jailbreak with Seas0npass [Tutorial]

You can now perform an untethered 4.4.4 jailbreak on your AppleTV with Seas0npass. Simply download seas0npass below and follow our tutorial.

Step 1: Unzip the ‘Seas0nPass.zip’ file and launch Seas0nPass.

Step 2: Select the ‘Create IPSW’ button to start the jailbreak process.

Step 3: The latest AppleTV software will be downloaded and used to create a custom ‘jailbroken’ software file.

Step 4: When prompted, connect your AppleTV to your Mac/PC using a micro-USB cable (leave power cable disconnected).

Untethered Jailbreak Confirmed for Apple TV 4.4.3

Pod2G from the Chronic Dev-Team has announced an untethered jailbreak for the Apple TV 2 on 4.4.3 via a post on his website earlier today. As always, no ETA has been given as to when the jailbreak will be released but he has said he will be able to begin testing within a few days.

It appears FireCore has sent him an Apple TV for testing – it’s nice to see some generosity happening within the community.

Currently the Apple TV 2G is limited to a tethered jailbreak on 4.4.3 but we are hoping the new jailbreak will be released soon.…

How to Jailbreak Apple TV using Seas0npass (tethered)

For those who don’t already know, Apple released version 4.4.3 of the AppleTV firmware. Because of this, our Seas0npass 4.3 tutorial will no longer work since 4.3 is not being signed. You will now have to use this tutorial in order to perform a tethered jailbreak on your AppleTV 4.4.3. Remember that since this is a tethered jailbreak you will have to perform the 3 tethered jailbreak steps at the bottom of this tutorial every time you power off your AppleTV(so make sure to leave it powered if you don’t want to have to connect it to your computer).
